SMP For Men
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) for many men is freedom from hair loss. SMP is able to achieve the look of a full head of natural, undetectable shaved hair in just a few sessions.
SMP uses tiny needles that implement a pigment, similar to cosmetic tattooing pigments. The needles make small incisions on the scalp that look similar to stubble. Many of our clients are wanting a cure that is able to maintain their original hairline. SMP is able to do just this. The SMP treatment lasts approximately 4-5 years before requiring more touch ups.
The style of shaved head is dependent upon the stage of your hair loss. At Platinum Cosmetic Ink, we are able to recommend the style best suited to you.
SMP For Women
Scalp Micropigmentation for women offers immediate results and will instantly create the illusion of thicker hair, by camouflaging the affected areas of the scalp or bare patches.
Most importantly, micropigmentation does not interfere with the body’s own ability to regenerate the follicles. Once the individual’s health or circumstances are resolved, natural hair growth can often resume.
Here at Platinum Cosmetic Ink, our female clients can enjoy the freedom and confidence of no longer having to hide these areas under headwear or intricate styling. Our comfortable and professional surroundings are ideally suited to the discretion required by clients experiencing hair loss issues. We aim to be Perth’s leading provider of SMP for women.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. We use nothing less than medical grade pigments. With time (around 4-5 years) and sun exposure, the pigment can lighten and it may be necessary to have a touch up to make it look a bit fresher and keep it looking at its best.
Following your procedure, it is vital that you take care of the treated area. We strongly recommend using a good quality sun block and a hat. This will help to ensure that your SMP treatment stays looking as it was originally intended, plus it will protect you from harmful UV rays
Many hair transplant clients who have had treatments such as Alopecia Reductions, Scalp Reductions, Plugs or Flaps that do not heal properly suffer from visible scars around the scalp. FUT or strip harvesting scars are linear scars and often run from one ear to another – in some cases on top of each other, if multiple transplants were performed.
Those people who have lost hair because of these treatments, or who did not have a successful treatment, find themselves restricted in hair styles and seek alternative camouflage options.
Shaving the hair to hide the thinning and balding area will reveal the scars, while growing the hair will make the thin and balding area more obvious. SMP can help with this by placing the pigment in the affected area to create a more dense appearance.
FUE or Follicle Unit Extraction can leave whitish dots at the back of the scalp, where the hairs have been extracted from the donor areas. Traditionally, most hair transplant surgeons use a 0.8mm or smaller round blade. In most cases, this is not an issue, but if the patient is prone to scarring or if the surgeon uses a punch that is too big, the patient can be left with a spotted scarred appearance across the donor area.
Most clients who opt for SMP have fantastic results, regardless of whether they choose to keep their hair shaved or longer.
